We met almost ten years ago in October 2016 at a concert – one we both decided to attend at the last minute. If it wasn't for both of our impulsive last minute decisions, we may have never met each other! Looking back now, it feels like one of those life-changing moments that seemed insignificant at the time. When we went on our first real date a month later, we talked for over two hours and were gently reminded by the waitress that we had forgotten to order food. From the very beginning, being together has felt easy, natural, and always filled with long conversations about just about everything.
Not long after we started dating, Lily moved to Hawaii to attend the University of Hawaii. We spent nearly six months apart, learning how to grow both individually and together from afar. That experience taught us patience, trust, and reaffirmed just how strong our connection is. Fast forward to today, and we’re once again doing long distance as Jake pursues his Doctorate in Chiropractic at Palmer University in Iowa (where he is absolutely killing it!).
Over the past ten years, we’ve built a beautiful life together, complete with three cats, and grounded in shared interests and values. In our free time we love watching anything space or sci-fi related, cherishing holidays with both of our families, and soaking up every moment we get with our nephews and niece. And despite the 1,606 miles currently between us, we continue to choose each other, finding plenty of love and laughter over FaceTime and frequent trips to see eachother.
After a decade of memories, growth, and love, we’re so excited to begin our next chapter together and get married. We’re incredibly grateful that we found each other so early in life and for our amazing families; who haven’t just loved us, but have loved each other too.
We cannot wait to celebrate with you all as we finally say “I do”! <3
